It’s been around since 2006, and since then, the free site has attracted over three million active members from across the globe.
And OnlineBookClub.org really does pay you for reading and reviewing books. However, as already mentioned, it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme or anything like that. OnlineBookClub.org is completely free to join and free to use. There’s no cost to sign up and create an account. But the website is especially ideal for book lovers, readers, and bookworms – it’s an online book club, after all.
If you plan on becoming a reviewer, you’ll need a PayPal account of your own because that’s where you’ll be getting paid.

How do I join OnlineBookClub.org?
You can join OnlineBookClub.org here. It’s completely free and easy to sign up and create an account. You just need to provide your email and create your own username and password. You’ll also be asked what device you’ll be doing your reading on, so they can provide you with the appropriate book formats (EPUB, PDF, MOBI, Kindle, etc.).
What do I do on OnlineBookClub.org?
You’ll read books and write reviews about them.
Once you sign up and complete your account, you can already start reading your first free book. As a beginner, you can only access a small selection of free titles at first. This will increase as you keep reading and reviewing.
If you see a title you like, you can download it and you’ll be given a set time (14 days) to finish reading it. Within that time period, you have to update your status to confirm whether you’ve finished reading the book, you no longer wish to continue reading, you want to request an extension, or you want to report an error.
To write a review, you will need to familiarize yourself first with the guidelines set out by OnlineBookClub.org. They have a bunch of rules they want you to follow so your book review won’t be rejected. You can check out the full list of guidelines here.
Now you won’t be getting paid for the first review you make – you’ll only be getting a free copy of the book. OnlineBookClub.org says that this is to ensure that you can a write a proper book review that follows their guidelines. Think of it as a qualification test or exam.
But if your first submitted review gets accepted, you finally get access to paid reviews – these are worth anywhere from $5 to $60 per review. Now, your book reviews will be rated based on the guidelines. Your goal is to keep writing reviews that follow the guidelines – that’s how you increase your level (0 to 6) and reviewer score (out of 100). Your level and score largely determine what books you can review and how much you can earn. The highest-paying books are reserved for top-level reviewers. You can also increase your level and score by being active within the community and on social media.
Anyway, that’s just the gist of what you’ll be doing on OnlineBookClub.org. It’s not as complicated as it seems – you just have to familiarize yourself with the rules. You’ll know more when you read their full guidelines here.
How much can you earn with OnlineBookClub.org?
You can earn anywhere from $5 to $60 per review. You’ll get paid via PayPal.
Your pay varies depending on the book, the type of review it requires, how long and how well you’ve been reviewing, and how active you are in the community and on social. The available books for review and the payment for each is listed when you choose the book for review.
Again, you should know that you won’t be paid for your first review, but will only be provided a free copy of the book. Once you post your first review and it gets approved, however, you then get access to paid reviews. You start small, of course, as the highest-paying books are reserved for top-level reviewers. But read enough books and write enough reviews (all properly done, of course), and in no time, you can easily make a couple of hundred dollars a month in extra income.
Ultimately, it’s best to keep in mind that OnlineBookClub.org isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. It won’t make you rich. It won’t earn you a living. If you’re expecting otherwise, then OnlineBookClub.org isn’t for you.
Is OnlineBookClub.org worth it?
Yes, if you love books and reading in the first place. You’ll be doing what you enjoy already, except this time, you’re also getting paid for it. You’ll get to read books for free, many of which are very recent and have yet to hit the shelves, and you’ll earn a decent amount for writing small and simple reviews about them. With OnlineBookClub.org, you can earn a couple of hundred dollars a month in extra income – it may not seem much, but it’s better than spending money on books and getting $0 for reading them.
But if you’re not fond of reading or of books, or if you’re just looking for a side hustle that pays more for less effort, then OnlineBookClub.org isn’t for you. There are plenty of other options out there that you can try instead.
In the end, you really won’t know if OnlineBookClub.org is worth your while unless you try it. So why not give it a go? You’ll get free books and get paid to review them – what’s not to like?
